Charles Lane wrote a good piece in The Washington Post recommending 3 ideas to help facilitate job creation:
1) End federal protectionism and price supports for sugar
2) Repeal the Davis-Bacon Act
3) Reduce the federal minimum wage
I’m not sure I completely agree with his argument for reducing the minimum wage, but I’d certainly acknowledge that it’s worth considering. At a minimum, there are solid arguments on both sides of the minimum wage debate. And in any event, these 3 ideas have as much merit as any I’ve seen and are far better than most.
